B Spot Serves A+ Burgers

Iron Chef Michael Symon scores with his Crocker Park eatery

Like many Westsiders, I was thrilled to learn that Cleveland celebrity chef Michael Symon was bringing his burger joint B Spot to Crocker Park.

The restaurant at 20 Main Street in Westlake joins locations in Woodmere and Strongsville that serve gourmet burgers, bratwurst and a wide assortment of beers.

We went on a Monday night and waited about a half an hour— less than the 45 minute wait we expected. , so I was not surprised that we had to wait.

The décor is cool and casual, with a large patio and plenty of seating. A large bar fills the middle of the restaurant, and if you have a small party or don’t want to wait, you can grab a seat there if one is available.

While we were waiting, we heard the staff mention that they were out of brats, which was ok for us, since we had burgers and barbeque on the brain.

I enjoyed the Chilly Willy burger, which was smothered in beanless chili and topped with red onions and cheese. One friend had the Pulled Pork Sandwich, while the other enjoyed the Lola Burger— is topped with fried egg, bacon, pickled red onions, cheddar and mayo.

Because B Spot doesn’t serve burgers and sandwiches with a side, we also had roasted garlic & parmesan wings, chips with parmesan fondue, Lola fries and onion wings.

As one would expect, everything was spectacular. The burgers, made from a custom blend by Pat La Frieda, were high quality, juicy and a perfect complement to the toppings. My friend, who skipped the burger for pulled pork, appreciated the combination of avocado with pork in her sandwich.

The cherry on top of the meal was the Vanilla Bean Apple Pie Bacon milkshake. I was with my friend the first time he tried this unusual combination of flavors at the Woodmere B Spot. He described it as “the best thing ever with ice cream.” And Westlake’s location did the concoction proud. It was just as mysteriously delicious as the first time.

Don’t miss the new B Spot, but be prepared to wait. The restaurant doesn’t take reservations and only seats complete parties. But don’t let that keep you; there’s plenty to do in  while you wait and you won’t be sorry you stopped in for some of Symon’s delectable dishes!

B Spot opens daily at 11 a.m. and closes at 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 11 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, and 9 p.m. on Sundays.
