Coleone’s Teams up with Kiedrowski’s Bakery, Opens for Breakfast

Kiedrowski’s voted America' Best Bakery in 2011.

Fresh on the heels of winning the 2012 Avon/Avon Lake Rotary Great Pizza Bake-Off (the shop’s fifth win in as many years), Coleone’s Pizza & Subs is expanding its hours and bringing one of Lorain County’s premier bakery items, Kiedrowski’s Simply Delicious Bakery, to the store.

It’s also opening for breakfast.

To celebrate, the store is hosting a Grand Opening on Dec. 1 from 8 a.m. - 2 p.m. featuring a workshop that lets kids participate in a “donut workshop” (where they can frost and decorate their own donuts from 9 a.m. - 11 a.m.), live music, free samples and even a visit from Santa (10 a.m. - noon).

A free cup of gourmet coffee for each guest and lots of free samples from the new counter will be available.

“Creating an environment where families can enjoy great pizza and pastry has been our dream since we bought this business,” Wittschen said. “We had to find the right bakery, and for us there was only one choice – Kiedrowski’s. Their products are phenomenal, they’re great to work with, and we couldn’t be prouder to call them our partners.”

The move meshes with the stores entry into the breakfast market.

The shop is now open for breakfast –selling Kiedrowski’s Simply Delicious Bakery’s freshly baked donuts, glazed croissants, signature Snoogles® and Coleone’s (not just for) Breakfast Pizza at the restaurant’s 2424 Ridgeland Drive location in Avon, where it relocated to earlier this year.

Coleone's will continue serving lunch and dinner also.

The partnership with Kiedrowski’s, the Amherst bakery voted America’s Best Bakery 2011, comes on the heels of two big wins for the Avon/Avon Lake family-owned pizza shop. In September, 2012, Coleone’s won puLse Magazine’s “Best of Lorain County” award in the pizza category. On Oct. 4, the restaurant also won the coveted “People’s Choice” award at the Avon/Avon Lake Rotary Great Pizza Bake-Off.

Tim Kiedrowski, owner of Kiedrowski’s Simply Delicious Bakery, says that an Avon location is long overdue.

“For years, customers travelling from as far away as Westlake would come into my Amherst store and say, ‘Tim, you need to open a bakery out where we live,’” Kiedrowsk said. “They loved our products – but not the drive. Now, people can get our same fresh-baked goods right in Avon. It’s more convenient for them and a great business move for us.”

The stores new hours areMonday – Thursday, 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.,  Friday and Saturday, 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. and  Sunday, 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Bakery and pizza delivery available.
