Amy’s Hallmark has opened its doors in Avon.

The corporate-owned specialty card and gift store opened Feb. 27 in the Avon Commons in the space formerly occupied by Playmatters (near Panera Bread).

In addition to staples such as greeting cards, gift wrap, stationery, and gift collections, the store also features collections of innovative and unique kids’ items and baby gifts, and a wide range of ladies’ jewelry, accessories, entertaining items and candles.

“Candles are always big,” store manager Carrie Hitchcock said. “We also have what we call 'mom items' and a large baby section.”

The store also carries traditional and specialty cards, as well as non-traditional and special event cards.

“Greeting cards still make up 50 percent of our business,” Hitchcock said. “It’s still huge.”

Hallmark also offers e-cards.

The store’s hours are 10 a.m. – 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. – 6 p.m.
