Randall’s Team Shop Shares The Spirit

Sure there’s some friendly rivalry across the tracks.

Sister cities Avon and Avon Lake have enjoyed some friendly competition since Avon Lake broke away from Avon last century. Who has the better football team? Soccer team? School district? Avon’s got the shopping; Avon Lake has a Great Lake in its backyard.

But there’s one place where maroon and gold co-exists quite peaceably with the purple and gold. Walk into Randall’s Team Shop & Screenprinting in Pin Oak Plaza and there it is in living color: Half a store sporting everything Avon Lake (including all things Shoremen) and the other half showing off a full spread of items for Avon and Eagle’s fans.

“Obviously, it’s been good with Avon being in the playoffs,” store owner Tyler Randall said.

Randall, an Avon resident, officially opened the store Nov. 15. His father Gary Randall, of Avon Lake, owns affiliate-business , now located in the back of the building. 

While the store is filled with ready-to-buy Avon and Avon Lake spirit wear, Tyler Randall said the company can custom screenprint or embroider just about anything.

“Everything is done on site,” Randall said. “Embroidery, screenprinting…we can customize anything including for businesses.”

The store boasts everything from gold and purple wigs and coffee mugs to pajamas, the requisite varsity jackets and sweatshirts. 

“We have a ton of stuff here,” Randall said.

“Winter wear is big right now,” Randall said, pointing to custom Avon and Avon Lake winter hats. “We even have baby items.”

Randall said the one advantage his store has is the ability for customers to come in and see the actual product, including size and color, before ordering.

“I’ve had a lot of kids come in with items that were bought after (filling out an order form) with items that were the wrong size,” Randall said. “We didn’t make them and they’re upset they’re wrong. If you order it here, you can see what you’re getting.”

Pin Oak Plaza owner Dave Rickey welcomed the new business.

“I’m so happy to have a store that caters to Avon and Avon Lake,” Rickey said. “This brings people in from Avon to Avon Lake.” 

Randall's Team Shop, located at 690 Avon Belden Road (at the corner of Pin Oak Parkway) is open Monday - Friday, 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m.
