Let it Snow? Maybe on Google But Rain Is More Likely Here

The chance of a white Christmas in Cleveland historically is 50-50 (from 1971 - 2011) , at least according to

A 30-year look found that there was at least 1 inch of snow on the ground on Christmas 50 percent of the time in Cleveland.

We checked with the National Climatic Data Center and this is what they said:

You could toss a coin, but when you’re in the midst of one of the rainiest years on record, there is a pretty good chance it’s probably going to rain.

Cleveland broke the rainfall record set in 1990 on Oct. 19 when the old record of 53.83 inches was broken.

According to the National Weather Service office at Cleveland Hopkins Airport, Cleveland is now 10.42 inches above the record with a year-to-date record of 64.25. Need a comparison to just how much rain that is? Here’s the previous Cleveland Top 5 annual record years:

According to AOL Weather, the best chance for snow this week is Friday, Dec. 23. Christmas Eve and day will most likely bring temperatures in the low 40s.
