Miller Nature Preserve Puts On Holiday Display

Preserve, two other Metro Parks having holiday displays this season.

It’s holiday time, and Lorain County Metro Parks is sharing the spirit with the public at three separate locations this year, including one stop in Avon.

  • Discover the joys of gingerbread at Miller Nature Preserve in Avon this season. The conservatory has been transformed inside and out for the holidays with a gingerbread theme. Take part in a self-guided gingerbread scavenger hunt. Hours for the conservatory are 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. with extended hours until 9 p.m. Tuesdays through Thursdays starting Nov.  28.  Admission is $2.
  • The 11th annual Holiday Lights display at Carlisle Visitor Center is lit now through Sunday, Dec. 30 (closed on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day). Lights will twinkle every evening beginning at 6 p.m. and end at 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and 10 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. Admission is free, however a non-perishable food donation per visitor for Second Harvest Food Bank is appreciated.
  • Stroll or drive through Lakeview Park in Lorain with thousands of twinkling lights and holiday displays reflecting off the lake. Stop in the Rose Café for a visit with Santa, to make a craft or just sip hot chocolate. Bring a pair of mittens for the mitten tree that will be donated to a local shelter.
