With the Flick of a Switch, Bleser Park Lights Up for the Holidays

The annual "Light up the Park" marks the kickoff of Avon Lake's holiday season.

Avon Lake's annual "Light up the Park" brought out children, adults and even Santa Claus, to festivities Dec. 4. at

Avon Lake resident Chris Quinlan, a long time volunteer with the city, had the honors this year of "flipping the switch" and lighting up the park, now decorated with seasonal decorations. 

Avon Lake Mayor K.C. Zuber and Ellyn Nichols of the Avon Lake Recreation Department announced the winners of the coloring contest and handed out gift certificates.

Despite a steady drizzle, visitors packed that pavilion and waited until Santa and Mrs. Claus arrived by fire truck and handed out gifts to children. (Santa said the reindeer were resting up for the big Dec. 4 trip.)
