Mayor Smith Endorses Bryan Jensen for Next Avon Mayor

Mayor says Jensen "stands out with exemplary distinction."

At the election coming up on Nov. 5, you will be voting for a new mayor. I am retiring, as announced three years ago. During my time as mayor, I have worked with over 25 Council members, both good and not so good.

With the exception of one, I have worked with the candidates in this race an there is one that stands out: Bryan Jensen. Bryan is suited both academically and in a business sense to be successful as the Mayor of Avon, but after being an elected official since 1976 and mayor for the past 20 years, I understand all too well that it takes more than that to be your mayor.

Bryan Jensen stands out with exemplary distinction. He not only has the education that’s necessary now, but he maintains his business in von and he and his family also have the community involvement that is so important. Bryan is a long=term councilman and has the most experience of those running for this position. In addition, he has been involved with the Avon school system, the Avon Parks  Recreation Department and Avon junior soccer, just to name a few.

Academics are one thing, but the second part of the equation if your caring, your character, your community involvement and the heart you bring to this job.

Bryan has been community-involved for many years, not just now at election time when seeking your vote. Don’t be fooled by people who join organizations and get involved six months before election; for Bryan it has been a way of life.

He lived his life in this manner long before he considered the idea of running for any office. He is a hard worker, very well educated, a longtime business owner and has the best of intentions for this city.

Bryan’s caring is unparalleled and his education, his experience and his knowledge of this community are head and shoulders above the other candidates running for the office of Mayor of the City of Avon.

Join me on Nov. 5 in voting for Bryan Jensen for Mayor.

I would like to thank everyone for their support during my 37 years in office, especially during these last 20 years as your mayor.

Thanks you very much,

James A. Smith

Mayor, City of Avon
