Community Corner

Dedication Ceremony of the Folger Home

Join our whole community at noon (after the parade) as the City of Avon Lake's Historic Preservation Commission recognizes the historic significance of this iconic 1902 structure on Lake Erie.  Built by Thomas Folger as a summer home, it was also our Village Hall for decades and a place where Avon Lake "grew up."

Volunteers saved it from demolition a decade ago and continue restoring it inside and out.  A plaque will be unveiled, speeches will be made, the Marching Shoremen will play.  Tours will be available of the building beforehand.  Meet Thomas Folger's great-grandson, Thomas Folger Cushing and his family, who are Grand Marshals of the Homecoming Parade.
