Tri-C Clothing Drive for Homeless Veterans

Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C®) AmeriCorps Completion Coaches will hold a cold-weather clothing drive as part of ServeOhio’s “Make a Difference Day” on Saturday, Oct. 26, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with drop-off sites at all Tri-C campuses. The Westshore Campus is located at 31001 Clemens Rd., Westlake.

The drive will benefit the Louis Stokes Cleveland VA Medical Center, which will distribute the donated items through its new Community Resource and Referral Center at East 70th Street and Euclid Avenue. Tri-C students and members of the Tri-C Veterans Initiative will join AmeriCorps staff to collect new, unopened clothing, blankets and toiletries – a complete list appears below.

“On an average day, there are approximately 300 homeless veterans in Cuyahoga County,” according to Laurie Haworth, Tri-C AmeriCorps completion coach. “And with the help of Cuyahoga Community College, which has worked with veterans for many years, we feel it is part of our responsibility as a community to make a difference in the lives of the men and women that served to make a difference in our lives.”
