Historical Buttons Topic at April Historical Society

The April  meeting of the Avon Lake Historical Society will be on Monday, April 11 at 1 p.m. in the Gallery Room of the on Electric Boulevard.

The guest speaker will be Alfreda Taylor of Sheffield Lake with her knowledgeable   presentation on the history of buttons. She has an extensive collection of buttons to share ranging from mens Military buttons to fancy ladies wear buttons. Included in her collection are military buttons from Russia and Canada as well as U.S. war buttons. She will also share the use of buttons in  decorations for the home and each guest will have an extensive view on “Everything You’ve Wanted  To Know About Buttons ..And More!” An informal discussion will follow the presentation and light refreshments will be served.

Officers for the 2011 year are President, Tony Abram; Vice president, Jo Scarpitti Hamilton; Historian, Nancy Abram. The positions of secretary and treasurer are open for election of  interested members.

The monthly meetings of the Avon Lake Historical Society are on the second Monday of the month at 1:00 in the Gallery Room at the Avon Lake Library on Electric Blvd. They are open to the public and those interested in the history of Avon Lake are always welcome.
