Enlighten Program, Week 16

Motivating the community with my weight loss journey.

Hello Friends,

I have been hard at work this week dealing with a new problem; I hurt my knee! This has been one of the biggest challenges for me so far, because I am now used to working out 5 days a week. With needing to baby my knee, I have tried to find exercises which will take it easy on my knee while it heals. I have been able to walk on the treadmill on a lower incline, work on weight training, and do some swimming. It has been interesting to try to find ways to lose weight yet heal at the same time!

We have a bunch of new faces in the Enlighten program, and it is exciting to see people taking that positive step toward health. It is amazing to me how many years I wasted wishing that things would be different, when it was only my attitude and motivation that needed to change. Since I've adopted a "when" and not an "if" attitude, successes have followed.

This week I dropped 1.8 pounds for a total of 42 pounds lost. My little girl was sick one night this week and literally slept on my chest, all 40 feverish pounds of her. While I was lying there VERY uncomfortably, it crossed my mind that I had been hauling more than this amount of excess weight for a while now. What stress I had been putting on my heart and knees! I'm glad that it is gone. I also had measurements this week, and I lost an additional 8 inches, for a total of 28 inches lost. I am down two sizes so far, and the weight loss is noticeable. Enlighten is making a difference in my life, and all of it is positive.

I'm hoping next week finds me with a healed knee and a new workout element in my routine, as I am going to try to attend an aqua class this weekend. But first, I need to go buy a smaller swimsuit; what a great problem to have!!
