Week 12 My Enlighten Journey

I am chronicling my weight loss journey as I participate in the EMH weight loss/fitness program.

Well here I am, well into week 12 of my EMH Enlighten weight loss program, and I can't believe I am halfway through the program. I have really changed so much about my day to day life, it is hard to believe. Now that spring is really here, I can already feel my life getting busier. I am really going to have to do some advanced planning to get done what I need to get done!

This week I had multiple work commitments, child/school issues, and extracurricular activity issues. Add to that weekend plans and events to attend, and I was a little nervous about how this week was going to go. I mapped out my week, figuring out when I would be able to fit in a workout, and literally put it on my outlook calendar. I was derailed quite a bit when issues flared up at work, which would then find me in my basement at night (which is really not my ideal workout time), just getting the time in.

Fortunately I have the seeds of fitness workout plan ingrained in my head now, so I utilized the strength workout when I didn't have access to exercise equipment. I found myself a little frustrated, but then I realized that hey, this is life. I am going to have to deal with these sorts of things and figure it out. Had I won the it would be different, but until that time, I need to time manage!

I still struggle with drinking enough water daily; I am on the go all day and find myself leaving water bottles here and there, but not getting enough fluid in. One of these days I will get some sort of system down pat.

In our meeting this past week, we had a lengthy discussion about nutrition and heart disease. Since heart disease is the number one killer of women, it is really important to focus on getting healthy to avoid our heart disease risks. I'm happy to report that my blood pressure is on the low side, and the last time my resting heart rate was checked it was 60. Working out and eating right is already showing up in my vital signs. I am working on adding more heart healthy foods to my diet too.

Finally, when I weighed in this week, I was down 5+ pounds! It was a nice loss to see, since the past two weeks I loss less than a pound each week. I am now down 36 pounds total, and feeling proud of what I have accomplished. We have two new members in Enlighten this week, and I really look forward to seeing all that they can accomplish with us too. Until next week, be well!
