Hosting a french student is rewarding for the whole family. Its like getting a goodwill ambassador for the whole neighborhood.

Having a french student can bring the whole neighborhood together melding 2 cultures together.

This August over 20 french student will be descending on the Cleveland area.  They are hoping that a local family will have a place for them to stay over their 20 day stay.  We have hosted students for years and each one has connected with our family of 4 in different ways.  My son who just graduated has made friends for life with them and my daughter who attends Avon Lake High School usually gets a big brother to look after her.  They wait for my husband to get home from work to go fishing or talk about American music groups and I am just the mom for the bunch.  They like to sit in the kitchen and talk to me about the meals I am preparing or if I grab my keys for an errand they are right on my heals asking me if they can go to.  They will even play with the family dogs and ask if they can walk them around the neighborhood then come home with news from one of the neighbors they have stopped an introduced themselves to.  We travel on the weekends to our trailer and they will start the whole process over again and tell us something about the older couple two rows over that we didn't know.  They have a great knack of bringing people together.  I always thought we are being the US ambassadors  but end up realizing they were able to get neighbors talking and friends stopping by for a meal just because everyone is as interested in learning about the students as he is about learning about us.  Please consider opening your home for the first 20 days of August to make new friends with a french student looking for a Cleveland area home to call their own for a few days.
