9: Consecutive quarters of growing state tax collections
Despite recent headlines, the municipal market remains a high-quality, attractive fixed income sector. All economic cycles see downgrades as well as upgrades, and this one is no different. States have actually now seen 9 consecutive quarters of positive tax receipts and are keeping their spending restrained, leading to better overall fundamentals. In addition, pension reform continues across the nation, leading to a better long-term outlook.
