Government, get out of America’s way!

Government needs to be limited, so America can remain the land of the free.

It’s gonna be a cold day in hell that Sen. Rob Portman, R-Ohio will ever be believable again. In 1996, he voted for the Defense of Marriage Act, which bans federal recognition of same-sex marriage. In 1999, he voted to bar gay couples in Washington, D.C., from adopting.

Two years ago, his son told him he was gay. Now Portman supports same-sex marriage. “I have come to believe that if two people are prepared to make a lifetime commitment to love and care for each other in good times and in bad, the government shouldn’t deny them the opportunity to get married,” Portman wrote in The Columbus Dispatch.

“We conservatives believe in personal liberty and minimal government interference in people’s lives,” he wrote in The Dispatch.

It is understandable for Portman to rethink after his son’s declaration, but what about his vote and all of those other sons and daughters?

Minimal government interference? Who is government kidding? America is supposed to be the land of the free and a place where everyone has the opportunity to be as good as he or she works and aspires to be. Government should stay out of the way!

It’s not pick on Portman day, but a reminder to Americans that government has ulterior motives beyond moving America forward. Government works for us and must be accountable. Government collects freebies, benefits, health care, stock tips and more at the expense of taxpayers. Too many government hires are stamping on the US Constitution and making laws to their advantage not Americas.
