Rich Ain't Bad

As Obama has $34,000 a plate fundraisers, he continues to blame the rich for being so. Americans need to blame Obama for his failed plans and taking way too much money from all of us.

Unless your parents literally gave you the farm and several million dollars, you are not the 1 percent that President Obama is working to devalue and destroy. Most of us have settled for working hard to earn our paychecks and then the government taxes and steals most of our money.

It used to be that liberals would pit conservatives against the population by using the race card. Discrimination as it relates to sex, age and race might be an issue, but last I heard this President is part Black and part White and, probably, an American citizen, who received 51 percent of the American vote. So it appears race is a non-issue.

With those three discrimination labels less important, now there’s a worse label that Jesse and Al most likely will travel first class to stomp down--”rich.” Unbelievable. Getting people fired up about “rich” rather than jobs, taxes, health care, billions spent by this Administration on failed plans, failed projects seems to be the new plan. Who could ever have imagined an American president devaluing hard work and the American Dream?

Years ago, there was a television show that took viewers in to stars homes. Each week tours of these millionaires’ walk-in closest with thousands of shoes stacked beautifully on gorgeous custom shelves, gold toilets, pools next to the guest houses with so much rich and glitz. These rich people; movie, sports, and singers flaunted their wealth for all to see. They earned it, I thought, they could flaunt it anyway they chose. That is what the American Dream is. Earn it, spend it--it’s yours.

On the morning news today, it showed mobs defying a line of police protecting Wall Street. Demonstrators' signs read, “Down with the 1 percent” and “Rich steals from the Poor.“ Several interviewed claimed the money was theirs. Wow my thought was, if you don’t have a job, or if you have not earned THAT money, how can it be yours? Truly, is this class warfare bent on distracting voters from President Obama’s failed, failed everything? Do these demonstrators actually think that business should just hand out money to them? Where's that shovel ready job plan President Obama?

Somewhere someone dropped the ball when it comes to basic economics. Where does all that money come from? Ask President Obama cause it appears the government keeps printing it in one of those back rooms near the Oval Office. However, America’s dollar is fading fast and it often is not equal or worth more than other countries. Perhaps, soon, Americans should buy wheelbarrows to fill with American dollars to take to the grocery to purchase a loaf of bread.

Yet the question, “where do we get that money?” must be answered. First, there are those who own a business. Next, those rich business people hire those who want to work. When those who work, work, then they earn money. Now, granted before that worker gets his paycheck the government steals a large percent, but the rest is that workers to spend as he pleases. Yes, necessities of shelter, food are a must, but savings should be too. That worker has every right to save a couple of bucks.

Some actually do save for a goal. I know a man who for many years put aside $100 a month for his goal. With a wife and three children, he did without a great deal just to save that $100 each month. Many years later he reached his goal and opened his business. This man was not a millionaire, but he was an American with a dream. He now is a millionaire and one of the “rich.” He worked, sacrificed, worked and saved for his American Dream.

These rich do have faces, dreams, goals and work hard to make it happen.

Look around at who has made the commitment to follow his American Dream; opening a business; creating a service, designing something, achieving and working at that which has created success and wealth. They earned their rich and struggled against the odds, hoops and rules of government to get to rich.

Perhaps billionaire Warren Buffet wants to pay more to allow the government to run his life, but that’s his choice. If he wants to give more to government then send Obama a check. I would like to believe most of us, millionaires or average working class Americans want government out of our wallets, so we can spend our money as we choose. And, if some of us are rich that is great, and if some of us are not then go make it happen, but quit picking on the American Dream that belongs to us all.

I can't say what needs to be done, but I don't think Obama is attacking the local businessman who is employing local employees. I think the main problem was the banking collapse (and bailout), and the mortgage crisis (from all the loans that never should have been approved). And those are the groups that I think should be responsible for providing restitution to the people and families whose lives they have ruined in their quest for ever greater profits.

Your right Kathleen, we need to stop picking on the rich. After all they are the job creators right? Picking on them and asking them to pay a little more will hurt job creation right? Even though George W. gave them tax cuts over a decade ago and we are at one of our highest unemployment rates ever. And its not their fault factories and jobs are moving over seas. And the fact that they establish a mailbox in Switzerland so they don't have to pay taxes is just smart business, can't fault them there. But somebody has to pay this debt we owe and you can't ask the ones who caused it to pay. So, hmm, what can we do? I know we can ask the hard working middle-class public employees to foot the bill. Yeah lets not ask somebody who makes over 250K a year to pay more, lets ask somebody making 40k to 80k to do it instead. Better yet lets not ask them, lets just take it! Luckily we have a Lehman Brothers corporate crony as a governor so we are all set. As a middle class hard working American I an willing to step up and pay a little more, even though I am paying a lot now. Are you? Are the "rich"?

Workers have a dream too. Even public sector who worked hard to get where they are. they worked hard to get an education, they worked hard to get the job, they work hard to earn and negotiate raises. They are under attack by these "rich" people you so want to protect. Does their blood and sweat mean less? The "rich" say don't attack me I'm working hard to live the american dream, and live it comfortably. I can't be expected to give up my luxuries to help pay a national debt incurred by all of us. If you want to pay off that debt then take from the middle and the poor. Let them suffer without necessities so that I may keep my luxuries.

I agree Kathleen, the wealthier people are the ones that stimulate the economy and buy products that allow for several others to have jobs in the first place.

This is now so much B.S...that the rich create jobs by the thousands for us regular folks. That is how it USED to be, but now the wealth stays at the TOP, does NOT "trickle down." Our economic system is not the same as it was years ago; it is not about the American Dream being attainable by every person. Quit pontificating about "job creation" from the wealthy. The only people they worry about are themselves. And their accumulation of wealth.
No, I do not "hate" the rich. I am not "jealous" of the rich. But I do hate what our economic system has morphed into, where the common man hasn't a chance.

John have you ever gotten a job from a poor person? Ever been hired by someone collecting welfare? If the evil rich people don't create jobs, who does?
