Bee's, firetrucks and Bubba'Q's just a few showstoppers at food show

Food show had something for everyone

The Fabulous food show had some big name chefs (Emeril Lagasse, Bobby Flay) it had some local chefs (Al bubba Baker) along with a world renowned wine maker.

But what other than those made the show a success? How about the floor, and a place they called the Market Garden, where hundreds of vendors not only had food to sample and buy, but also cool ideas by local landscapers to spruce up your patio.

One of the more popular areas was the Ice Cream Shoppe, where patrons of the show could sample a vast array of ice creams from different vendors such as Pierre’s and also Munches. The ice cream mascot proved to be a big hit not only with the kids, but also some adults who had fun posing for pictures with it.

Stancato’s  Restaurant had a number of their sauces to sample, Rito’s bakery was hard to resist with its vast arrangement of desserts, including canoli’s, and Beckham’s B@M BBQ, a local Cleveland establishment had them lined up for samples of their homemade recipes.

While you couldn’t beat Bubba Q’s and his famous recipes, my favorite of the show and one you see around at Rib fests, was Five alarm Bar-B-Que. Not so much for their savory pork bbq’s, which they were selling at a fast pace, but instead their presentation, which included an old working fire engine.

Of course being a food show, in addition to the eats, there were also numerous products on display such as cutting knives.

The guys from Cutco, were more than happy to express the fact their knives not only were made in America and not from China, but also the fact they lasted for life. The hunting knife was something that surprised me most, as it could be used for a number of things when in the woods, with its hook on the end.

Warther Cutlery, a family owned business out of Dover Ohio caught my eye more than the other cutlery items and there was a big reason for this, the craftsmanship. The gentleman at the stand told me they began making knives in 1902, and what makes them standout was not only the fact they also use 100% American made products, from the steel to the materials in the handle, but the spotted blade.

The Warther knive not only makes a gorgeous item for the kitchen, but make the knife last longer than most.

Maple Ridge Garden center had a unique herb garden, and Pettiti’s a great layout for a patio that would be the envy of neighbors.

One stand featured a product by a Westlake native named Ed Spellman called The Grilly Goat. It was interesting to watch his presentation, especially as a person who uses a grill quite often throughout the year.

We all use tongues, but what he had was tongs that had a basting brush attached to them. His product seemed to attract the attention of many onlookers.

Beecology, which I had seen on CNN before, was a popular stand; not so much for their products but for the way they were created, by Bees. The stand featured a honeybee hive in glass, and watching them work was really interesting. One could watch the actual wax drop.

And you can’t forget your pet; after all, they get hungry too, right? While none were allowed in the Market place, Annies Pooch Pops had a plethora of gourmet goodies for your dog.
