Table for One: Show Off
It's as scandalous as it can be in the suburbs (but this one takes me to the city).
Dining alone was one hurdle I had to overcome.
But seeing a show at Playhouse Square on my own? I would need to muster up a lot of courage to do that.
But when I separated from my husband, show after show graced the stage. And at home I sat. Or at a table for one.

But the curtain lifted, and I bought a single ticket.
And you know what? I was surrounded by other theatre loving patrons at the largest performing arts center outside of New York City. At Playhouse Square, no one stares or questions why I’m walking in solo to the State or Ohio. And no one grumbles during the performance. I can simply enjoy the arts.

So it was great anticipation I waited for Tuesday’s announcement of Playhouse Square upcoming KeyBank Broadway Series. And this year’s lineup is quite impressive. It would be hard for anyone – single or not – to pass up a performance of these musical greats.
Many of my all time favorites are coming to Northeast Ohio. I think it’s fabulous I can drive 25 minutes to downtown rather than flying for two and a half hours east to NYC.
Anything Goes!, Beauty and the Beast, Sister Act, Priscilla the musical, War Horse, Guys and Dolls, and Book of Mormon - Wow. So many Tony winners. Here.
And with a night out, I’m likely to hit some local Avon restaurants beforehand. So let me know if you have any suggestions. Or tell me if there's an entree over which I have woefully glanced.
And remember, the next time you see a Mom sitting at a table for one, it’s likely me. Come and say hi.
