Billy T. Helbert, Korean War Vet, Loved Fishing

Billy T. Helbert, 84 of Avon Lake, passed away Aug. 22, 2013 at the Main Street Care Center, Avon Lake. He was born on March 2, 1929 in Ashland. 

Billy was a graduate of Ashland High School. He then proudly served his country in the Navy and became a Korean War Veteran. After he served in the Navy he worked in the printing business until he retired. Billy loved to go fishing, camping, and golfing but more importantly he loved his family.

Billy is survived by his sons, Michael W. (Hope) Helbert of Avon Lake and David E. (Melissa) Helbert also of Avon Lake; grandchildren Christopher, Sarah, Eric, Amanda, and Drew; and one great-grandson, Arthur. He is preceded in death by wife, Marilyn R. Helbert (nee Shanefelter); parents, Thomas and Ola Helbert; and siblings, Lester Shaffer and Norma Shaffer.

Friends may call at the Busch Funeral Home, 163 Avon Belden Road, Avon Lake from 2-4pm on Sunday, August 25. A memorial service will follow at 4pm. The inurnment will be private at Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon.
