Dolores M. Cowfer: Obituary

Dolores M. Cowfer (nee Martin), 67, of Avon Lake formerly of Medina, passed away Saturday, February 16, 2013 at the Ames Family Hospice House in Westlake. She was born June 29, 1945 in Tarentum, PA and had lived in Avon Lake the past 18 years.

Dolores was a graduate of Plum High School, Plum Borough, PA. She worked as an office assistant for Westinghouse in PA and then as a sale representative for Home Interiors. Most recently she worked for a time as a receptionist at the Avon Lake Animal Clinic. She was a member of the Holy Spirit Church, Avon Lake. She was a crafter and an avid bowler, bowling on leagues in Medina and Avon Lake. She enjoyed travel, especially to Las Vegas with her sister Lorraine whom she referred to her "Travel Buddy." Dolores loved the sunshine and going to the beach to collect shells and shark teeth. Her family also described her as one with a generous heart.

Dolores is survived by her husband Joseph A. whom she married on Jan. 6, 1964 and three daughters Kimberly Zimmer of Lorain, Kelly Cowfer of Moncks Corner, South Carolina and Jodi Cowfer of Johns Island, South Carolina. She is also survived by her sister Lorraine Trempus of Cheswick, PA and brother Joseph Martin of Louisa, VA. She is preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Elizabeth (nee Bobick) Martin and a nephew Joey Martin.

Friends may call at the Busch Funeral Home, Avon Lake on Wednesday, Feb. 20 from 5 p.m. - 9 p.m. A prayer service will be at the funeral home Thursday at 9:15 a.m. followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Spirit Church, 410 Lear Rd., Avon Lake at 10 a.m. Fr. James H. Beatty of the church will officiate. Cremation by Busch Crematory.
