George was a big man, both in stature and in character. He was a proud Ohio State graduate, a retired lieutenant commander of the U.S. Coast Guard, an engineer, and as he would say "just a farmer."

In his retirement years he dedicated his time to Wake Up America, a charitable organization that feeds the hungry.
