Father of Avon's Dan Root

John B. Root, 80 of Avon Lake, formerly of Omaha, NE passed away on April 25, 2012 at following a lengthy illness.

John was born on March 29, 1932 in Mansfield, OH.

He served in the Navy and graduated from Ashland University. John worked for 20 years as an accountant with Eaton Corporation in the Airflex Division. He was a member of First Lutheran Church in Lorain and the American Legion. John loved reading, sports and spending time at home with his family.

John is survived by his wife of 49 years, Donna (nee Applegate); sons, John Andrew (Beth) of Beavercreek, OH and Dan (Sandy) of Avon; five grandchildren, Sarah, Maggie, Kristen, Peyton and Cody; and brother, Louis of Mansfield, OH. He is preceded in death by his parents, John F. and Marjorie E. (nee Becker) Root; and brother, Larry (Plymouth, OH).

Friends may call at the , 163 Avon Belden Road, Avon Lake from 1-3 pm on Saturday, April 28. Services following visitation at 3 pm at the funeral home.
