Nancy Nelson Abram, Avon Lake Historian, Author

Services were private.

Nancy Jane Abram (Nelson), 65 of Avon Lake passed away at home peacefully in her sleep on Aug. 19, 2013. 

Nancy was born is Lakewood and lived in Avon Lake since 1951.

Nancy was a 1965 graduate of Saint Augustine Academy, Lakewood and went on the earn a Bachelor of Arts in Speech Communications from Marquette University, Milwaukee, Wisconsin and earned a Masters Degree from Mount Saint Joseph College in Cincinnati.

She worked as an elementary and junior high teacher at Holy Trinity School, Avon, The Lorian City School Diistrict and St. Mary SchoolAvonNancy was a published author, researching and writing a book, Avon Lake: A Journey in Time, which was the official history of Avon Lake. She also wrote numerous short stories and plays which were performed by her students during the school year. 

She was a member of Holy Spirit Church and a Parish School of Religion Instructor; a member of the Avon Lake Historical Society and their official historian and was a member of the Avon Lake Toastmasters.

Nancy is survived by her husband Anthony L. whom she married on Aug. 22, 1975; they were childhood sweethearts. She is also survived by a son Joesph R. Abram of Avon Lake and daughter Juliet H. Abram of North Olmsted

Other survivors include two grandchildren, Jacob and Madeline and brother Brian Nelson. She is preceded in death by her parents Robert and Helen (nee Wallace) Nelson.

A private memorial service was held at Holy Spirit Church, Avon Lake with interment at Saint Joseph Cemetery in Avon.  

The Family suggest memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
