Paul L. Macura Sr., Member of St. Joseph's Church

Paul L. Macura Sr., 82 of Avon Lake formerly of the Slavic Village Neighborhood of Cleveland, passed away peacefully Thursday, Sept. 27, 2012 at the Main Street Care Center in Avon Lake.

Mr. Macura was born June 27, 1930 in Cleveland and had lived in Avon Lake the past 45 years.

Paul proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corp from 1948 to 1952. He was a member of the Construction and Labor Union Local 860 working for various companies as a foreman installing underground fiber optic cables for the phone company.

He was a member of St. Joseph Church in Avon Lake and a very active member of the Knights of Columbus 3269, Fr. Regan Council. Paul enjoyed being in his yard caring for his flower and vegetable gardens. Most of all, he was dad, taking care his kids and then being an amazing grandfather.

Paul was known for his overflowing kindness and generosity and had an infectious smile, bringing joy to all he encountered, especially those at the nursing home where became known as "The Mayor of Main Street Care Center."

Paul is survived by children Pam Wisniewski (Jas Blaz) of Elyria, Cindy Duerk (Jeff) of Avon Lake, Paul Jr. (Sue Ann) of Lakeville, Minnesota, Bob (Amie) of Avon Lake and Jackie Clancy of Richfield. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and siblings George Macura (Annie) of North Royalton, Carol Ferek of Strongsville and Theresa Lewis(Robert) of Middleburg Heights. He is preceded in death by his wife of 52 years Marjorie (nee Panek), parents John and Caroline (nee Slesak), sons Mickey and Terry Turner, son-in-law Clete and 5 siblings.

Friends may call at the Busch Funeral Home, 163 Avon-Belden Rd., Avon Lake, Friday, Oct. 5, from 3 p.m. - 8 p.m. A Memorial Mass will be Saturday at St. Joseph Church, 32929 Lake Rd., Avon Lake at 9:30 a.m. Fr. Timothy J. O'Connor of the church will officiate.

Interment with military honors will follow at Resthaven Memory Garden, Avon. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Crossroads Hospice at http://www.crhcf.org/Donations.aspx . To send an online condolence go to www.buschfuneral.com.
