Salvatore Giordano of Avon, Long Career With NASA

Services were private.

Salvatore M. Giordano Sr., 78 of Avon, formerly of Cleveland, passed away peacefully at his home Sept. 25, 2013, with his family by his side, after a brief battle with cancer. 

Mr. Giordano was born Dec. 13, 1934 in Cleveland and had lived in Avon since 1968. 

He was a graduate of John Marshal High School Cleveland and Served in the United States Army. He then had a successful 30 plus year career at NASA as a research mechanic.

Mr. Giordano was a member of Holy Trinity Church, Avon. He also enjoyed travel making two trips Italy over the years. He enjoyed going to Crocker Park to listen to music and spending time with his friends playing poker.

He also enjoyed special times with his dear friend Sis playing ping-pong and fin rummy, going out to dinner or taking in a Lake Erie Sunset.

Salvatore is survived by three children Joseph of Tennessee, Kathleen A. Simpkins (Ronald) of Grafton and Salvatore "Sam" Jr. of Oberlin. 

He is also survived by grandchildren Johnny, Jeena and Anna as well as special friend, Florence "Sis" Connole and his brother Michael of Westlake. He is preceded in death by his wife of 36 years Dorothy P. (nee Seel), daughter Susan Capiccioni, siblings Charles, Joseph, Angelina, Grace, Carmella and Mary Rose and parents Cataldo and Catalda (nee Mangione) Giordano.

All services were private at Holy Trinity Church, Avon, with Fr. Richard Gonser, officiating. 

Interment was at Holy Trinity Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be forward the Hospice of the Western Reserve 17876 St. Clair Ave, Cleveland 44110. Arrangements by Busch Funeral Home, Avon.
