Virginia "Ginny" Anderson (nee Meister), St. Joe's Member

Virginia Anderson retired from Avon Lake school district.

Virginia "Ginny" Anderson (nee Meister), 65 of Avon Lake, passed away at home on April 23, 2012 following a short battle with cancer.

She was born on March 11, 1947 in Sandusky where she was raised. After graduating from Perkins High School in 1965, she worked as a preschool teacher and eventually retired from

Ginny was very active in the community and at where she participated in the Women's Circle, Ladies Guild and choir. She was president of the Avon Lake American Legion Women's Auxiliary, Lady of the Snows and also volunteered with hospice.

She loved spending time with her granddaughter and enjoyed the outdoors, as well as golfing, bird watching and traveling.

Ginny is survived by her daughter, Lisa Marie Anderson-Carver (Ken) of Avon Lake; granddaughter, Elizabeth Carver; mother, Audrey Meister (nee King) of Avon Lake, and brother, James Meister (Donna) of Monroeville, OH. She is preceded in death by her husband, Roy Anderson and father, James Meister.

Friends may call at the , 163 Avon Belden Road, Avon Lake from 4 p.m. - 8 p.m. Thursday, April 26. Prayer service is at 9:15 am, Friday at the funeral home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, April 27 at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Church, 32929 Lake Rd. in Avon Lake with Father Timothy J. O'Connor presiding.
