Avon Lake Leash Law

Dog owners!!! Please be aware there is a leash law ordinance in Avon Lake.  Your dog must be on a leash when visiting any public property in Avon  Lake.  This includes all Avon Lake City parks.  Although, there are at least 2 signs posted regarding keeping dogs on a leash, Walker Road Park seems to be a magnet for scoff-laws!  Recently, I took my dogs to Walker Rd. Park (both were on leashes).  As I got out of my car, at least 4 loose dogs came charging at me and my dogs.  As a result, I fell and was transported by EMS to the Emergency Room.  Luckily, I "only" sustained a badly bruised hip.   As a result, I face a mountain of medical bills.  As I lay on the icy ground, one of the dog lovers threw her dog in her car and spend away before we could get a name, phone number or address!  The other dog owners stuck around for the ambulance but I got the distinct impression they felt they and their dogs were not to blame for my accident.  The Avon Lake Police have assured me their officers will be re-educated regarding the leash law and it will be enforced.  If you feel you dog must run free, GO TO THE DOG PARK!!!  FYI: For those of you who visit Walker Rd. Park, are confronted with unleashed dogs and are concerned about your safety or your children's safety or your dog's safety-CALL the Avon Lake Non-Emergency Number 440-933-4567 and report these careless, thoughtless and selfish dog owners to the police.
