Mom's Talk: How Are You Keeping Your Kids Academically Fit This Summer?

Or maybe you support a few academic-free months.

Moms Talk (Parents Talk) invites Avon Lake moms and dads to add their opinions on important topics.

Each week our parents council of experts will take your questions, give advice and share solutions. (Want to join the moms council? Email Lori.Switaj@patch.com. Dads are also welcome.)

Moms, dads, grandparents and the diverse families who make up our community will have a new resource for questions about local neighborhood schools, the best pediatricians, 24-hour pharmacies and the thousands of other issues that arise while raising children.

THIS WEEK'S QUESTION: With summer quickly approaching, how do plan on keeping your child "academically fit?" Summer classes? Educational programs? Required reading? Share your tips with other parents in the comments section.

Reading Road Trip @ Avon Lake Public Library! That is the summer reading program theme this year and it is sure to keep your children reading all summer long. There are incentives, prizes, great crafts and programs and it all begins June 6.

We store the WII during the summer. If the weather is nice, we are outside. We go for bike rides, play at the playgrounds, play at the baseball diamond at Weiss, volleyball and kickball in the yard. And of course, enjoy the new pool.
