Avon Assistant Fire Chief Seriously Injured In ATV Accident

Tim Golay remains in Allegheny hospital

Avon Assistant Fire Chief Tim Golay was in an ATV accident in the Pittsburgh area while vacationing May 18.

The Chronicle-Telegram is reporting Golay, 52,  was critically injured Friday in an all-terrain vehicle accident but has been upgraded to serious. The paper attributed the information to Chief Frank Root. The Chronicle said Golay suffered a broken clavicle,  broken lower back, broken pelvis and several broken ribs.

Root was not available for comment but Avon Capt. Mike Emling confirmed Golay had been in an accident and was in Allegheny General Hospital.

“All’s we know was it was serious enough to keep him there,” Emling said.

The Morning Journal, after speaking to Root, reported Golay was riding an ATV down a hill when he turned and braked incorrectly. The ATV rolled on top of him.

Golay joined the in 1989. He was promoted to assistant chief in 2005.
