Big Trucks = Big Fun on Saturday

It's back. The annual "Big Trucks" event is Sept. 15.

It’s that time of the year when little people (and grown up little people) can have a hands-on good time at the on Saturday, Sept. 15.

“Big Trucks" is the annual event that lets visitors check out city and safety vehicles from aerial ladder trucks to the the MetroHealth Life Flight helicopter.

The event, sponsored by the city of Avon Lake, encourages visitors to “See. Sit. Touch.”  ( from the 2011 Big Trucks event.)

The collection of safety and city vehicles also includes fire and police vehicles, the bomb-squad truck, a SWAT team vehicle, Army Humvee, DNR and the a Coast Guard patrol boats, sewer cleaner, street sweeper, chipper, excavator and more.

The police and fire departments will be open for a tour and an array of activities for children and their parents focused on safety will be available.

Attendees can enjoy free food at the event, which runs from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Handicapped parking is at the . Non-handicapped parking is available across Walker Road.
