The is participating in the "Click It or Ticket" seat belt enforcement efforts through June 5. So, if you're pulled over and you're not wearing a seat belt, expect a ticket.

Police will be paying special attention at night. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Commission, of the 11,593 people who died in nighttime car crashes in 2009, 62 percent were not wearing seat belts. Men and people in pickup trucks are the least likely to be wearing seat belts.
Enforcement and education are working, the NHTSC reported, with seat belt usage rising from 58 percent in 1994 to 85 percent in 2010. The NHTSC estimates that 267,890 lives were saved by seat belt usage between 1975 and 2009.
