Century Home Fire Cause Remains ‘Undetermined’

Home, built in 1854, is deemed a total loss.

to an 1854 home in Avon last week remains undetermined, according to the Avon Fire Department. An electrical shortage in the house, which has been vacant for years, was cited as a possibility.

responded to the fire at 3583 Long Road at 12:45 a.m. May 4. Fire departments from North Ridgeville and Sheffield Village also responded.

The four bedroom, two bath century home is expected to be razed. The building was unoccupied at the time of the fire. A firefighter said the house has been unoccupied for years. It is currently owned by First Federal Savings & Loan Association Of Lorain and was listed as sale with Howard Hanna at the time of the fire.
