City of Avon Lake: If You Need Shelter...

Red Cross may open a shelter... see information below.

This information was just posted on the city of Avon Lake's Facebook page in light of the possibility residents may be without power through Sunday.

Avon Lake residents that are unable to safely remain in their homes are asked to call the Avon Lake Police at 440-933-4567 or the Fire Department at 440-933-8305. Based on the number of Avon Lake residents that call for assistance or are considering shelter, the Red Cross may open a shelter here within Avon Lake.

If it is determined that Avon Lake has enough need the soonest the shelter in Avon Lake could be opened is 12 to 16 hours. For residents who seek immediate shelter, at 6 p.m. this evening the Red Cross will have a shelter opened in Lorain at 4501 Clinton Avenue.

We ask that you check on your neighbors or friends as many do not have working communications.

Once again Avon Lake residents that are unable to safely remain in their homes and want secondary shelter are asked to call the Avon Lake Police at 440-933-4567 or Fire Department at 440-933-8305.
