Eisenhardt Sworn in as Avon Lake's New Fire Chief

Former chief Bill Morris set to retire Dec. 18.

Lt. Glen Eisenhardt is now Chief Glen Eisenhardt.

Eisenhardt was sworn in as the new fire chief at Avon Lake City Council Dec. 12 in front of a standing-room only audience of family, friends and members of the police and fire departments.

"I’m lucky to have such a great team to work with," Eisenhardt said. "My objective is to have the best fire department possible."

"We're a growing community and we need to make sure we're matching the service," he said at the time.

Eisenhardt thanked his peers, wife Amy and son Jack as well as Morris.

"Thank you for your leadership and 36 years of dedication," Eisenhardt said to Morris. "You’ll always be part of our family."

Morris said he expected Eisenhardt to be a "solid chief."

Following the swearing in, Avon Lake Police Chief Dave Owad took the podium saying he looked forward to working with Eisenhardt before presenting him with a welcoming gift.
