Flooded Basements and Streets Greet Residents This Morning

Parts of Beachwood Avenue under water, Jaycox south of Schwartz in Avon.

As the National Weather Service continues a flood warning through 1 p.m. residents in Avon Lake woke up this morning to flooded basement and streets.

Many residents in Avon Lake woke up with flooded basements and one street, Beachwood Avenue off of Electric Boulevard, found their street non-passable for some vehicles.

“It’s about a foot deep,” an t worker said at 9 a.m. The worker said while the road was technically open, he hoped most vehicles would turn around.

“It should be down in about an hour,” he said.

Residents on Beachwood, Forest Hill and Vinewood Drive were reporting flooded basements.

A source at the A said no roads are officially closed. Schools are open.  The is reporting no major problems this morning.

If you are traveling into Avon, reports at 9:45 a.m. had Jaycox Road closed south of Schwartz.
