Newly sworn in Avon Lake Fire Chief Chris Huerner is pinned by his uncle, Tom Huerner after Huerner’s promotion Dec. 17.
Huerner was promoted after former fire chief Glenn Eisenhardt voluntarily opted earlier this month saying he wanted to spend more time with his family.
Huerner said he would “continue the high quality” maintained by the department.
Attending the swearing-in ceremony were members of the Avon Lake police and fire departments, city leaders, Huerner's family, including his wife Kathy, and community members.
