Late Nite Munchies: Man at Taco Bell Drive Thru Reportedly Drunk

Plus, car-deer collision shuts down part of I-90.

It was a relatively quiet week in the local law and order world. No turtles were shot, no bones found in a garden, and no complaints of loud goats in the 45s.

Here’s a roundup from Avon and Avon Lake:

Late Nite Munchies: Man at Taco Bell Drive Thru Reportedly Drunk

One driver found out the hard way about cruising though a drive through with an open container on March 24. An employee at Taco Bell on SR 83 reported the driver of a tan van was drunk and he saw an open liquor bottle in the vehicle. Avon Lake police ran the van’s tags and found the driver had a warrant through the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office. The driver was taken into custody and cited by Avon Lake Police for driving under suspension.

Man reports colleague wants to get high, sees kid in the car

A man contacted Avon police after overhearing a Westlake colleague on the phone. The man reported that his female co-worker was “looking forward to the ride home because she and her male friend smoke week on the way home.” The man was concerned because when the Pontiac Sunfire showed up at the Avon business there was a small child in the vehicle. The man wanted the information noted in the police logs.

Deer vs. car results in lanes shut down

A driver on I-90 near SR 611 escaped injury when she struck a deer on the Interstate at 2:55 a.m. last week. The deer took off, but the woman’s car stopped facing the wrong way on I-90 and needed to be towed. The high speed and middle lanes were closed down while the car was towed.

Teen vehicle clean after man reports student rolling a joint

An Avon East parent saw a high school student in the elementary school’s parking lot rolling what he thought was a joint in his jeep. When the student’s vehicle returned to the high school, police spoke with him and noted there was no sign of marijuana being smoked and the driver was not impaired. School staff then conducted a search of the vehicle and found cigarettes, plastic bags and rolling papers, but nothing illegal. No charges were filed.

"An employee at Taco Bell on SR 83 reported the driver of a tan van was drunk and he saw an open liquor bottle in the vehicle." How clueless do you have to be to be driving under the influence within spitting distance of a POLICE STATION! And with a warrant no less... Kudos to the observant employee who helped take a 'bite' out of crime!
