Beachdale Man Charged After Firing Gun in Avon Lake

Fires shot into driveway after repo men try to tow car

An Avon Lake man has been charged after discharging a gun when two repo men tried to tow his car.

John Cardelle, 48, of Beachdale Drive was arraigned on Jan. 29 in Avon Lake Municipal Court and has been charged with two counts of aggravated menacing, a first-degree misdemeanor and one count of discharging, a fourth degree misdemeanor.

Avon Lake Police Detective Vince Molnar said men from a repossession company attempted tried to tow Cardelle’s 2010 Kia at approximately 4:30 p.m. on Jan. 24 when hCardelle came out with a revolver and told them to leave his property.

“He was upset, he had some things going on and he apparently made some threats,” Molnar said of Cardelle.

Cardelle fired a shot into the ground; the gun was not pointed at an individual, Molnar said. Police confiscated the weapon and left within 20 minutes of the initial call.
