Man on Bike Hit By Car in Avon Lake; Life Flighted to Metro

87-year-old Avon Lake man hit by woman.

UPDATED 9:49 a.m. 

A source at the Avon Lake Fire Department confirmed a man on a bicycle was hit by a car between 8 and 8:30 p.m. Sept. 3 on Electric Boulevard in front of St. Joseph Church.

The man was taken by Life Flight to MetroHealth Center in Cleveland. His condition is not known at this time.

Avon Lake Police Lt. Duane Streator said an 87-year-old Avon Lake man was riding westbound on Electric Boulevard when he was struck by a 43-year-old Avon Lake woman pulling out of St. Joseph Church's parking lot. 

Streator said the man was riding with traffic.

The man's injuries included a head injury. Their names have not been released yet as the investigation continues.

Avon Lake resident Carsten Anderson was able to capture footage of the helicopter taking off from the Avon Lake Fire Department this evening.
