Devon Smith , the eighth-grade Westlake Girl from Hathaway Brown School, has been found and is safe.
A statement from Hathaway Brown headmaster Bill Christ, said that Devon was reunited with her family at noon today, March 10.
Westlake police said she was found near her home, hiding under a neighbor's deck. She had minor scrapes and bruising and was taken to the hospital for observation.
“We're pleased to tell you that the Westlake Police Department has confirmed that as of noon today, HB 8th grader Devon Smith has been found safe and is now with her family,” Christ said in a statement. “We appreciate the tremendous outpouring of help we have received from the HB community and from the broader community as well. Needless to say, we are profoundly grateful that Devon is home and that so many of you have supported the efforts to help us reach this happy resolution.”
Devon was seen being dropped off from her school’s bus at her Westlake home on March 8 at 4:30 p.m. She did not enter the home, and has not been heard from. She may be despondent over school issues and was reported missing at 8 p.m. that date.
Devon also has relatives in Avon Lake.
