Noah Meet His First Responders

Critically injured Nov. 6, Noah is home and back in school.

The 9-year-old Avon Lake boy, seriously injured last November met the members of the Avon Lake Fire Department and Metro Life Flight staff who attended to him after his injury.

The Feb. 6 4 p.m. meeting at the firehouse brought out Noah’s family and friends as well as the first responders involved in the assisting him following the Nov. 6 accident.

"You guys are so special," Noah told paramedics including Gary Madej andLife Flight nurse John Singleton.

Noah took turns hugging each responder with a wide smile on his face and shaking hands.

The reunion was made even more special when a Metro Life Flight helicopter landed at the firehouse in his honor. Noah donned a pilot’s helmet and grinned for cameras behind the helicopter’s controls.

Despite incurring a serious head injury, the Westview student has made remarkable strides since the devastating accident. He came home from the hospital on Jan. 4 and returned to school the next week.

Noah who just started walking again two days before Christmas is continuing with rehabilitation.

What lies ahead remains to be seen.

“Frankly, we don’t know how far he’ll go,” his mother, Amy Venesile told Patch in early January. “His rehabilitation (personnel) and doctors are very encouraged by how far he’s come and his rate of progress. It’s faster than many brain injuries.

Fudraiser for Noah

Neighbors and friends have been organizing fundraisers to help out with costs associated with Noah’s recovery. On March 9, from 6 p.m. to midnight, join supporters at Avon Oaks Country Club in Avon for a major fundraiser. Currently the group is seeking sponsors and donations for the evening, including items to be auctioned off. Tickets are $55.
