Overnight Garage Fire Damages Kensington Drive Home

Firefighters have fire under control in under 15 minutes

Firefighters from three departments responded to a fire in an attached garage at a Kensington Drive home early Thursday morning that caused smoke damage in the house. 

The fire, in the 3300 block of Kensington Drive, was called in to the Avon Fire Department at 2:26 a.m. An engine and aerial truck from Avon responded, along with an engine from Sheffield Village and an aerial truck from North Ridgeville.

Firefighters arrived at 2:36 a.m., assistant fire chief Tim Golay reported, and had the fire under control at 2:47.

Everyone in the home got 0ut safely, Golay said. No one was injured.

Golay said that, while the fire was contained to the garage, the house sustained heavy smoke damage throughout, including in the basement. Early damage estimates are $20,000 to the house and $26,000 to the contents.

The cause of the fire is undetermined.
