Speeding Driver Leads Police on Chase into Elyria

Driver faces several charges

An Elyria man was charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated, among other charges, after police clocked him going 110 mph on Interstate 90 in Avon before leading Avon police on a chase into Elyria.

Christopher Parron, 30, was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence, failure to comply with a police order, possession of drug paraphernalia, reckless operation, speeding and possession of marijuana.

Avon police spotted Parron speeding as he traveled west on I-90 around 1:51 a.m. on March 1. Police pursued him into Elyria, finally stopping him at the exit for Route 57 north.

Police administered a breath test, which Parron  failed, a report said.

The passenger in the car was not charged.

Bad Night

Two people face drug-related charges after a 19-year-old woman was taken to the Avon EMH emergency room with chest pains and difficulty breathing.

Emergency medical workers were called to the Value Place Hotel in the 1600 block of Moore Road around 3:40 a.m. on Feb. 28.

The man in the room, Michael Sands, 32, of Joplin, Mo., was charged with possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia. After being treated and released, Christina Wolfe, 19, of Lorain was also charged with possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Bad Detour

Avon police were called around 6:04 p.m. on Feb. 28 after a man was seen driving his car through about a half-dozen yards in the 3400 block of Kensington Drive to get around street flooding. Police were unable to locate him.

Bad Luck

A resident in the 37500 block of Lorie Blvd. called police around 6:31 p.m. on Feb. 27 to report that, for the fifth time, someone had stolen the mailbox and post.

Bad Night II

Two teens were cited for underage consumption and possession of drugs after police were called to the 1400 block of Crab Apple Lane in relation to a friend's despondency over a recent death in the family. The friend was taken to St. John West Shore Hospital.
