Crime & Safety

Lake Road closed between 83 and Lear Road, Tuesday, Aug. 6.

Avon Lake Municipal Utilities and the city of Avon Lake will combine forces to permanently repair the section of Lake Road damaged by last month’s water main break on Rice Park Drive, a street north of Lake Road between Forest Hill and Hermann drives.

To make that happen, Avon Lake Police Department will be closing Lake Road to thru traffic on Tuesday, Aug. 6 from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m., as crews work to excavate the area and replace and cure the asphalt. Motorists who typically use Lake Road during their daily commutes should use a different route that day. Detour signs will be in place, including using Electric Boulevard as an option.

Local residents will have access to the entire area during the course of the work, but drivers should expect to show their driver’s license to gain access. Residents’ water service should remain unaffected by the repair.
