School Safety on the Forefront: Feb. 5 Forum Open to Public

Police, school administrators will answer question, lead discussion

The Avon Local School District is hosting a school safety forum open to the public on Feb. 5, from 7 p.m. – 8 p.m.

Parents/guardians at all schools have been notified.

The forum, held at Avon High School’s auditorium, is an opportunity for police and school administrators to  have an open conversation about school safety and where the district stands on the issue.

The Avon Police Department as well as district administration will be in attendance to field questions, concerns and ideas.

“We will be in attendance to answer any questions that we feel that we can relating to school safety and listen to any suggestions or comments which may come forward from community members,” Avon Police Chief Richard Bosley said. “We will also have a handout for parent and students on things that they can do to help keep our schools safe, as it takes everyone working together to keep our schools a safe environment and a focal point of education and growth.”

The material is from a study commissioned by the Department of Education in 1998 titled Early Warning Timely Response: A Guide to Safe Schools
