Scrooges Cut Christmas Lights, Egg Houses

A Saturday night of mischief Dec. 10 resulted in numerous house eggings and homes having their Christmas lights cut.

don’t think the incidents are related, but did connect four juveniles to the eggings, which were reported on Avon Point and Williamsburg. At about the same time, a house was toilet-papered on Brandon Place.

“Four juveniles were linked to two different (egging) incidents,” Det. Vince Molnar said. “Officers are arranging with juvenile parents to address that situation at this point. We’re working with them to provide a consequence.”

Also on Dec. 10, the police received several complaints of residents who had their Christmas lights cuts on Williamsburg and Long Points. The Williamsburg resident said it was the fourth year in a row his holiday lights had been cut.

Molnar did not think the juveniles were responsible for the lights being cut.

“It wasn’t in the same area of town,” he said. “I don’t have reason to believe they’re linked.”

He was sympathetic to the owners.

“Anybody who’s repaired Christmas lights understands the frustration,” he said. “Kids need to find something better to do. In the grand scheme of things the kids need to realize this is affecting other people.”
