Woman Taken By Ambulance After Striking Pole on Lake Road in Avon Lake

Incident marks second time in months the same pole near Sunset Road was hit

A woman driving on Lake Road was transported for medical attention after her black Kia left the roadway and struck a pole in front of a house just west of Sunset Road just after 8 a.m. on June 25.

The woman, whose name has not yet been released, was able to exit the vehicle and was walking around immediately following the accident, witnesses said. She was driving west on Lake Road when the accident happened.

Police and firefighters responded and the woman was taken for medical attention by ambulance.

A telephone pole was almost knocked over as was a residential mailbox.

Lt. Sean Bockelman said the accident was still under investigation. Bockelman said it was the second time in several months a pole in that location was struck.

The accident was the second this week involving a driver veering off of Lake Road. Last Saturday, Kimberly Harris of Lakewood cited for operation without being in reasonable control at approximately 5:30 p.m.sideswiping a tree and then hitting three more trees before her car came to rest near Brunswick Drive. No injuries were reported in that incident.
