The following letter was forwarded by Avon Council members Mary Berges, Dennis McBride, Dan Urban and Craig Witherspoon in support of mayoral candidate Kevin Ward, who currently sits on council.
Dear Avon Residents:
Although each of the Mayoral candidates has their own strengths, we feel that Kevin Ward is uniquely qualified to be Avon's next Mayor. Having worked together with Kevin over the last four years on Avon's City Council, Kevin has demonstrated the leadership skills and displayed the experience necessary to lead Avon as it continues to grow and prosper.
The City of Avon has a $33.7M budget, tens of millions of dollars in assets and over 150 employees. The Mayor’s position requires proven experience and the capability to manage all of the city’s affairs from day one. It is obvious to us that Kevin’s business career and public service has provided him with the skills to be Avon’s next Mayor. In addition, Kevin already knows the various city departments, their operations and budgets, along with the city’s current and proposed capital projects.
The community knows Kevin as responsive to the needs of the residents. We know him as a capable, hard-working, team player who inspires confidence. From first-hand experience, we have seen how invaluable Kevin is in discussions on budgets, city projects, tax abatements, and contracts. He is not afraid to ask questions in order to insure the best possible position or outcome for the residents and the city. His style is one of cooperation and transparency.
In our opinion, Kevin’s experience and qualifications make him the best candidate to be our city’s next Mayor. Kevin has earned our votes.
We ask you to support Kevin Ward as well with your vote on Nov. 5.
Mary Berges, Councilwoman, At-Large
Dennis McBride, Councilman, Ward 2
Dan Urban, Councilman, Ward 4
