Bellaire Main Line is Completed

Next section of work will require residents to use less water.

The sewer main line and lateral sewer connections to the homes on Bellaire were completed Friday. Pipe bursting continued on Inwood with the installation of an additional 410 feet of pipe and 9 home laterals.

“We’re now using an electronic fusion coupler machine to join polyethylene pipe sections,” Project Inspector John Kelly said. “The new fusion technology reduces pipe section joining time from 12 hour to six hours, cutting it in half.”

The longest single run, the installation of 394 feet of pipe, is scheduled for Monday morning on Inwood between Durrell and Bellaire. Cleaning up will continue on Bellaire. Affected residents will be notified 48 hours ahead of schedule and asked to reduce water usage while home laterals are being connected. Local access traffic will be maintained and motorists are advised to drive with caution.
